How To Look Like An Off Duty Model

How To Look Like An Off Duty Model

If you’re asking us, how to always look like a model, then our answer is that this is an impossible goal. Why? Well…

First, models don’t look like models all of the time, it’s their job. They don’t climb out of bed in a morning with perfect makeup. Secondly, it’s their job. They have had years of practice and know a lot of pro tips. Third, it’s their job. They have teams of people and experts around them helping them to achieve that look.Designers and makeup artist are there to make them look great and photographers ensure that they look stunning shot after shot.

We never want to promote an unrealistic beauty standard and that’s what we’d be doing if we told you that it’s possible to look like a professional model all the time, you can’t and not even professional models can.

If you’re looking for the so called off duty model look, then we can help. This is a look that is all about enhancing your natural beauty and looking fresh. It’s called the off duty model look precisely because it’s a more low key style, exactly how a model might look when they’re not at work.

Exfoliate & Moisturise

Whilst it might not be the most exciting hot tip in the world, one thing all models do is exfoliate thor skin and keep it moisturized. Exfoliating the skin helps to remove dead skin cells from the surface and stops it looking flaky or dull.

You don’t need to exfoliate everyday, too much exfoliation can strip natural oils from the skin that help it stay healthy. Exfoliating twice a week is about right though you might have to vary it up a bit if you skin is either very dry or very oily.

Once you’ve exfoliated, add a moisturizer. This is one of the best things you can do for your skin, both now and into the future.

Add A Primer

Add a primer using a primer brush. Primer is designed to create an even base that the rest of your makeup sits on top of. Make sure you spread evenly, this will help the rest of your makeup hold and not run or smudge.

Highlight

A highlighting lotion helps to pick out key areas of the face. Use this sparingly, the idea here is to highlight subtly, again the whole idea of the off duty model look is that it’s not too heavy. For this look softer and fanned highlighter brushes can be ideal as they’re better suited to very light applications.

Apply Concealer

If there are any areas of the skin where there are blemishes, patches of redness or discoloration then a concealer can help to cover these (and yes all models use concealer because all models get blemishes). Apply with a concealer brush before the next step.

Highlight

If there are features of your face that you particularly want to highlight then now is the time to do it. The tip of your nose, your cheekbones and your brow bone are all areas of the face you might want to consider for this. These are areas of the face that naturally catch sunlight so may often be a little more tanned than other parts of the face so highlighting them is a good way to keep the look natural.

You don’t need to do all of them if you don’t want to though, pick the features that you want to and highlight with a highlighter brush.

Brush Your Brows

Once again, the off duty model look isn’t supposed to be loads of work so don’t worry about styling your eyebrows up lots. Get a brow brush and just give them a quick brush to neaten them up.

Add Eye Shadow

If you want to make sure your eyes stand out, eye shadow is a great way to add a bit more too this look and help it pop. Instead of using a bold color that wouldn’t really work with the off duty model look, go for something a bit more muted. It will still lift the look without clashing.

Use Mascara For Definition

Don’t go too heavy here, you’re supposed to look like a model who’s not at work. Just do one coat of mascara to help define your lashes.

And that is how the Off Duty Model look is done. Add lipstick if you feel you need a finishing touch but again remember this is not supposed to be a heavily worked on look so pinks and nudes are a good way to help it all feel natural and work with your natural beauty.

Always remember, even the most stunning models in the world don’t look like that all the time - you’re seeing them at their absolute professional and crafted best!
